Abstract
Since her appearance on the Spanish-American literary scene -and it could be said worldwide, Samanta Schweblin’s narrative work has had an upward trajectory, as well as a very favorable reception in terms of public and critics. His first novel, Distancia de rescate, published in 2014 by Penguin Random House, addresses themes already present in his short story production, such as family relationships; all this from aesthetic assumptions that choose to arouse discomfort in the reader and that recalls the tradition of the Rio de la Plata fantastic story. Likewise,
in the analysis of the representations of motherhood, its link with the counterfactual elements present in the text as a whole was taken into account, which are all the more important as they stand as a structuring factor of the novel.
